Release status
Free testing is next.
We’re reducing the running costs before opening the prototype for free testing. macOS and Windows are planned first.
A note from us
We built it for a hackathon.
And won.
The prototype currently uses about €30 in Google Cloud credits for one person’s 30-minute session. That is a huge running cost, and bringing it down is the next thing we need to do.
We’re working on optimization over the next couple of days, with the aim of opening free testing once it’s ready. We want you to try it, and we want to be able to afford that. No fixed release date just yet.
Very new tech. Still very early.
Bear with us, haha.
Desktop first
macOS + Windows
Planned desktop releases. We’ll share more when free testing is ready.
Possibly next
iOS + Android
Possibilities for the near future. Mobile support isn’t confirmed yet.
An idea we’re exploring
Katchy, maybe?
We’re considering a connection with Katchy subscriptions. Nothing live or priced yet.
A few things you might be wondering.
When can I try it for free?
We’re working on reducing the running costs over the next couple of days. The plan is to open free testing once those optimizations are ready. We don’t have a fixed release date yet, and we’ll share an update here when testing opens.
Why does one session cost so much?
Right now, a 30-minute session for one person uses approximately €30 in Google Cloud credits. This is very new technology, built quickly for a hackathon, and the current running cost is huge. That is our cost to operate the prototype, not a price we are asking you to pay. Bringing it down is what we’re working on next.
Which devices will it be available on?
We’re planning desktop releases for macOS and Windows. We’re also exploring iOS and Android as possibilities for the near future. Mobile support isn’t confirmed, and we haven’t announced release dates for any platform yet.
Will it connect to Katchy subscriptions?
Maybe! We’re considering how Very Expensive Browser could connect with Katchy subscriptions. There’s no live integration, subscription offer, or pricing to announce yet.
Are the website previews the finished browser?
The interactive examples on this website let you explore the kinds of tools we’re building, using local demo data. They don’t browse your accounts or run live AI sessions. The browser is an early hackathon prototype; wider testing comes after the next round of optimization. These seven modes are a starting point, with more to follow.
