Veb reads what it needs straight from the other browser’s files on this Mac. Nothing goes through a server, and the other browser can stay open.
From Arc#
Everything that comes from Chrome comes from Arc, and Arc’s own shape with it:
- With Keep its spaces on, every space becomes a Veb space, with its emoji, color and grain. Off, it all comes into one list.
- Favorites become pins, up to nine a space, and the rest kept tabs. Pinned tabs become kept tabs, and folders stay folders, folders inside them too.
- Side-by-side Split View pairs stay side by side.
It all comes asleep, until you open it. Easels stay in Arc. Match Arc in Settings › Spaces takes its colors too (under Look in Settings › Appearance when spaces are off), and bringing Arc in again only adds what is new.
From Chrome, Dia and others#
Chrome, Dia, Brave and Edge, and also Chrome Beta, Comet, Vivaldi, Chromium and Helium. Everything comes, from every profile:
- Pinned tabs and tab groups, and the open tabs too. Each profile comes as a space of its own, signed in as it was.
- Passwords, cards and addresses.
- Bookmarks and history.
- The extensions you have switched on, fetched fresh from the Chrome Web Store. What they kept, such as their sign-ins, stays in the old browser.
- Your sign-ins, so you stay signed in to your sites. A few may ask again.
With Dia open, Bring In asks Dia itself for each profile’s spaces, pins and open tabs, and macOS asks once whether Veb may. Dia’s folders come in as pins.
In the welcome, Bring from … with your browser’s name takes it all in one go. It finishes in the background and says when it is done. Later, Settings brings tabs, passwords, cards and extensions on their own.
From Aside#
Aside comes over like Chrome, and Veb also brings what Aside’s agent kept:
- Memory: its Markdown notes become notes in Memory.
- Chats: what you asked and each answer, kept to read under Archived Chats in your chats. The steps in between stay behind, and so do incognito chats.
- Routines: each one becomes a note with its schedule and its task. It doesn’t run in Veb. To have it run, make it a routine here.
Bring from Aside in the welcome brings them with everything else. Later, the Aside memory and chats row brings them on their own, in Settings › General › Bring In or Settings › AI › Memory. Bringing them in again only adds what is new, and notes you changed in Veb stay as they are.
From Safari#
Passwords, cards, bookmarks and history come over through Safari’s own export:
- In Settings › General › Bring In, choose Safari… from the Bring In menu of Bring passwords in or Bring cards and addresses in. Veb opens Safari.
- In Safari, choose File › Export Browsing Data, keep Passwords and Credit Cards ticked, and save it in Downloads.
- Veb notices the file and brings it in, then offers to move it to the Trash, since it isn’t encrypted.
From Firefox or another browser#
Zen and Firefox bring their bookmarks and history straight in: press Bring In on the Bring in from Zen or Firefox row in Settings. Their passwords still come from a CSV file:
- Open
about:logins, then its ⋯ menu and Export Passwords… to save a CSV file. - In Veb, choose Zen or Firefox… under Bring passwords in. Then delete the CSV file: it isn’t encrypted.
From another browser, export bookmarks as an HTML file and choose Bring bookmarks in from a file.
One kind at a time, in Settings#
Settings › General › Bring In brings each kind on its own, from whichever browser you choose:
