View › Show Chat opens the chat beside the page, and ⇧esc hides it. It shows the chat of the tab in front, else the chat you had open, else a new one, with ideas for the page you’re on when there is something useful to suggest.
Talk to it#
When you start a chat, the tab in front goes with your message; its × leaves it out. + adds another open tab, a screenshot of this one or a file, and you can drop files and links on the column too.
Follow it#
While it works, the line under the chat’s title says what it is doing. When it needs you, for a choice, a sign-in or a yes, a card stands over the field: pick a choice by its number, or type your own answer.
Nothing sits under a message. Right-click an answer for Copy, Ask Again, Repeat and Tabs and Steps, the tabs it opened and every step; on iPhone, press and hold it. The time shows over a turn, as in Messages, when it came 15 minutes or more after the one before.
When an answer is done, Done ⌘↩ closes the chat and its task’s tabs, and ⌥⌘↩ is done but keeps them open.
In a new chat, the model under the title is the one it goes to. Click it to choose another, from any plan you have.
Edit a message#
Right-click your message and choose Edit: its words go in the field, and that turn and the ones after it dim. Change the words and ↩ sends from there; the turns after it go. esc keeps them as they were.
Your chats#
The clock at the top lists your chats, newest first, with tasks and routines under their own headings; search them from its field. A chat you haven’t opened in a month goes to Archived Chats, in the list’s ⋯ menu, beside Unread Only. Change how long in Settings › AI › Agents › Archive chats you haven’t opened in, or pin a chat to keep it. Right-click one to pin, archive or delete it. In the field, chats ⇥ finds them too.
