Updates and feedback

Reference archive: this page documents the original Yab browser. Features, platforms and release dates here do not describe the current Veb prototype. Veb release plans →

Veb updates itself, quietly, and a note to the people who make it is one card away.

Updates#

Every hour Veb looks for a new version, downloads it, checks it is signed the same way as itself, and has it ready. An Update button then stands at the sidebar’s foot, with a note written by it, or at the far end of the tabs across the top; press it when you are ready. Your tabs, settings and passwords come through untouched.

An ordinary update never restarts Veb on its own. An urgent fix does, once you’ve been away from Veb for ten minutes and nothing in it is playing, on a call, at work or downloading, and your tabs come back as they were.

Settings › General shows the version, with Check Now. The Veb menu has Check for Updates…, and Restart to Update once an update is ready. What changed in each one is on the changelog.

Send feedback#

  1. Choose Help › Send Feedback…, or Send feedback in Settings › About.
  2. Pick Something's broken, An idea, I love it or Other, and write what happened.
  3. Attach up to five screenshots or files, add your email if you’d like a reply, and press ⌘↩.

It goes straight to the people who make Veb, with the version of Veb and macOS and, unless you untick Include diagnostics, a few counts of what went wrong lately, never pages or what you typed. Your draft waits until it is sent.

Quitting#

⌘Q asks first, and a second ⌘Q quits; your tabs are there when you come back. Tick Don’t ask again, or turn off Settings › General › Warn before quitting. On a call it always asks, and with an agent at work it offers to quit when the agent is done.
